SHORT HOP & MESH RADIO LINKS

GML Electronics are experts in the design and installation of all types of 'Radio Links'. Our systems are best described as 'Last Mile' links.

Radio or Data Links carry many sorts of data and designs can range from simple, effective TV reception to medium distance (several KM) or International links such as FT8 / VPN for provision of Internet or data streams. Common small scale use of radio link systems is to share Internet access between building from a single source such as Star Link/NBN/Satellite. Reducing the monthly costs by division over a number of sites as an alternative to each site running its own infrastructure.

Why use a Radio Link and not bury a cable?

1. Cable links at network speeds have a maximum loop distance of ~ 300 Ft which is the half loss point. Even at these distances high volumes of errors are introduced network wide.
2. Cost and civil works required to properly install cables is considerable if the cable is to be properly protected from animal and environmental damage.
3. SAFETY A cable between two structures can become the only electrical link between them during faults and may accidentally serve as the main earth link
4. In electrical storms cables are, of course, long antennas attached to each end and will bring surges to the connected equipment

Short Hop Radio provides 'Air Gap' isolation between sites. This greatly improves resilience and is impervious to "backhoe attenuation".

Radio links are usually less expensive than civil cable works and will run from a few metres to over 10 KM at high data rates, error free. Links can also feed many ends in a Point to Multi-point distribution arrangement

Links provide Network IP boundaries and can be used to isolate sites for privacy and security. On-the-fly scrambling provides complete security against interception
